Dodge is not in the business of making promises it can’t deliver on. When it offered the Challenger SRT Hellcat, it promised the world’s fastest and most powerful muscle car. They lived up to the hype then. Now, in 2017, they’re doing it again with the 2018 Challenger SRT Demon, and if the spec sheet is anything to go by, it’s going to be something else to drive.
Dodge started out by slashing 200 pounds off the Hellcat’s curb weight, and upgrading the inner workings of its 6.2-liter supercharged HEMI V8. In addition to an arsenal of cooling and boost equipment, not to mention torque management hardware, the SRT Demon leads with 840 horsepower and 770 lb-ft of torque with 100-octane fuel and the red key. Using regular gas and the red key nets 808 horsepower, while black key valet mode limits output to 500 ponies.
