Understanding the Performance of Car Batteries in the Cold
A typical automotive battery uses traditional lead-acid technology to carry out important reactions that power the starter motor and other electrical systems. When operating under extreme temperatures, the battery is likely to suffer a significant reduction in performance. The cold cranking amps (CCA) parameter says a lot about the capability of a battery in freezing temperatures.
A high CCA rating implies good resistance to sudden drops in ambient temperatures. In other words, the battery is able to generate sufficient output compared to normal conditions.
